If you're looking for creative ways to build social support at work, here's one unique idea. Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust has taken a fresh approach to combat doctor burnout in Buckinghamshire, UK, by backing a movie club initiative aimed at improving the wellbeing of psychiatrists at risk of burnout. This initiative was published in a small-scale research article online by Cambridge University Press in January 2025.

The medical profession is under immense pressure. The General Medical Council's National Training Survey 2023 revealed that two-thirds of trainees and over half of trainers were at high or moderate risk of burnout. This alarming trend prompted Dr. Sureyya Melike Toparlak, a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services professional, to think creatively.
