Wellbeing champions training

Give your wellbeing champions the skills to succeed

Wellbeing champions are an essential part of your workplace wellbeing program. They are your eyes and ears across the business.  Now is the time to harness their passion, boost their engagement, and drive real change.

In the same way that worker health and safety representatives play a crucial role in developing a positive safety culture, wellbeing champions networks can help you manage psychosocial risk and increase staff participation. In short, wellbeing champions are a great way of keeping your people at the centre of your wellbeing strategy.

But don’t leave it to chance – give your champions the knowledge and skills needed to reach their potential.

What are wellbeing champions?

Wellbeing champions are a volunteer group of employees who provide worker representation on wellbeing-related issues in your workplace.

They serve a number of important purposes:

  • They act as the workplace’s eyes and ears into wellbeing, mental health and stress related issues and can be an early warning system for emerging issues.
  • They can communicate with leadership and management on how they can support the workforce in the best way.
  • They can support the rollout and engagement in workplace wellbeing initiatives.
  • They can be peer supporters or Mental Health First Aiders.
  • They can act as culture amplifiers, promoting and role-modelling good workplace culture, psychological safety, inclusivity and normalised conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

overview of our Wellbeing Champions Training

Our Wellbeing Champions Training program is designed to help your wellbeing champions be effective across your business.

You may have a network already, or just be starting. Our program is customisable to meet you and your champions, wherever you are on your wellbeing journey. Harness their passion, boost engagement, and drive real change.

Choose one of our three modifiable training options (or design your own!): Core, Sustain or Premium.

OPTION 1: CORE

Ideal for workplaces that want to kick-start training for wellbeing champions.

The Core option consists of an in-depth, 4-hour workshop that equips champions with the key knowledge and skills to be an effective advocate.

The workshop can be delivered in person or virtually and can be delivered at once or over multiple sessions – whatever works for you.

By the end of the core training, wellbeing champions will:

  • Understand key wellbeing concepts and knowledge areas.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of a wellbeing champion and know how to set effective boundaries.
  • Understand the mutual relationship between work and wellbeing.
  • Understand the workplace drivers of wellbeing – both generally and via a facilitated session on the barriers to wellbeing specific to your workplace.
  • Understand self-leadership and the drivers of personal wellbeing.
  • Know how to be an effective wellbeing supporter.
  • Be able to have a wellbeing check-in conversation.

The core session is supported by a workbook with exercises, reflections, further information and reading to ensure that the learning goes beyond the session itself.

option 2: Sustain

Ideal for workplaces that want the core training, plus regular meeting facilitation and skill-building.

An ongoing program of activity can be a great way to support your wellbeing champions group and keep the passion and outputs high.

Our Sustain option gives you the Core training, plus it allows you to continue to develop and support the learning of the group and keep the momentum going.

At a cadence that suits you, we’ll facilitate six 60-minute sessions with your champions that is part training-focused and part delivery-focused. We’ll
explore practical wellbeing topics and issues with your champions that are directly relevant to your workplace, and help your champions stay focused and deliver on your desired outcomes. Some choose to host these meetings at a regular cadence (e.g. every second month), while others choose a custom option (such as once per month for the first three months, then once per quarter thereafter). The choice is yours.

option 3: premium

Ideal for workplaces that want the core training and facilitation, plus hands-on help to deliver.

We all need a helping hand sometimes, especially when workloads are high.

With our Premium option, you get everything in Sustain, plus extra resourcing to supercharge initiatives and get things done when you need them.

The Premium option includes on-call support through our coaching/advisory service.
